The Story Behind Kimberland
A note from Rachelle, Owner of Kimberland
Kimberland didn’t begin as a big brand or a business plan.
It started as a favor for a friend.
Several years ago, a close friend of mine had created a small line of dog training collars. When life took her in a different direction, I stepped in and acquired Kimberland to keep the brand alive. At the time, I had no idea the journey it would become.
In the early days, Kimberland quite literally ran from my dining room table. Orders were packed by hand, ideas were scribbled on notebooks, and every decision was made with one goal in mind: make the collars better for the dogs and the people using them.
Listening to Dog Owners and Trainers
One of the first things we did was start listening.
We spoke with professional dog trainers, working dog handlers, and everyday dog owners to understand what they actually wanted in a training collar. Their feedback shaped everything we did moving forward.
We improved the packaging so the collars arrived clean, organized, and professional.
We rebuilt the website so customers could better understand sizing and fit.
We expanded the SKU lineup so owners could find the right collar for their dog.
But the most important improvements came from the conversations we had with people who work with dogs every day.
The Birth of the Easy Release Buckle Collar
One of the most common requests we heard was simple:
"We love the collar, but can you make it easier to take on and off?"
That feedback led to the development of our 1.5 Easy Release Buckle Collar — a strong, dependable collar designed for everyday use, with the convenience of a quick-release buckle.
It quickly became one of Kimberland’s most popular collars.
Expanding the Line
As Kimberland grew, so did the ideas.
We introduced powder-coated color options, giving owners a way to choose collars that were both durable and visually distinctive.
Then came another major step forward.
Working with our manufacturing partners, we created new tooling to produce the 2.25 prong collar — a size widely used by trainers working with medium to large dogs. This expansion allowed Kimberland to serve a much broader range of dogs and training styles.
Listening Again: The Low Pro Series
As always, we went back to the people who use these collars every day.
Many trainers loved the function of a traditional prong collar but wanted something that looked a little more subtle. That feedback led to the creation of the Low Pro series — a prong collar designed to sit about ½ inch lower on the dog's neck, creating a more discreet profile while maintaining the same balanced communication.
It’s a perfect example of how Kimberland continues to evolve:
listen → learn → improve.
Built for the Dogs Who Walk Beside Us
Kimberland has grown a lot since those early days at my dining table.
But the philosophy hasn’t changed.
Every product we create is built with the same goal:
simple, reliable equipment that helps dogs and their owners communicate clearly.
We’re incredibly grateful to the trainers, dog owners, and partners like Keeper Collars who believe in thoughtful training equipment and strong relationships with their dogs.
Kimberland will always continue to grow the same way it started — by listening to the people who use our products and the dogs they care about.
At Kimberland, every collar we make reflects years of listening, learning, and improving. From our original designs to the Easy Release Buckle Collar, the 2.25 prong collar, and the Low Pro series, each product was developed with real feedback from trainers and dog owners who rely on their equipment every day. If you’re looking for thoughtfully designed training collars that prioritize both function and quality, we’re honored that you’re considering Kimberland. And we’re grateful to partners like Keeper Collars who help bring these tools to dog owners who care deeply about their dogs and the relationship they’re building together.
